It is LaLAMP time...no... it is Peanut Butter and Jelly Time!
It’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Time! Web Tools That Grab Attention and Infuse Energy into Classrooms
Why are our students mesmerized by crazy videos, commercials or songs? Do you ever feel like you need some creative technologies to help excite your students? This session will demonstrate how you can implement new and interesting tools into your existing lessons to motivate your students.
This is the post of my presentation for LaLAMP. I hope everyone enjoyed the session and remember to have fun with the tools.

AASL presentation
Hey There Arkansas friends!
I have been so busy since I left the conference and I am only in my third week of school. I have uploaded the presentation here https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Bz-9vMD6n4hRMG01REFER2dYcjg and everything is linked except the manga presentation and I'll have to upload that differently since it has sound. I hope everyone has a great school year and you will consider my invitation to join me in a webinar this week to introduce you to the Intel Engage community. I will be online this Thursday (8/16/12) at 6 pm CST. Register here https://engageteachers.adobeconnect.com/_a816142044/e17mp3er8nf/event/event_info.html

Virtual ISTE
I plan on spending my ISTE week in Port Allen, LA so I will not be in San Diego. No funds for me to go to ISTE so I will be checking out the latest and greatest online. If you are interested in doing the same then this article can get you started SchoolCIO Blogs - DAILY INSIGHT: 7 Resources for attending ISTE12 virtually. I have already started tagging some great stuff. My favorite so far is a poster session link I found on twitter with the ISTE hashtag (#ISTE12) - got books? This is a resource for promoting reading and literature using technology. I will be sharing my virtual ISTE gems with the community in this blog.

Jacques Cousteau at a Book Fair in the Barnes and Noble in Baton Rouge!
This is not an April Fools’ Day Joke! I wrote a post a couple of days
ago on the success of day one of our book fair in Barnes and Noble. Day
one focused on Geography so our day two took a different direction with
curriculum as students completed a STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math) scavenger hunt. The students were to answer
questions in regard to the science, robotics and math stations
throughout the store. The math teachers had the students working math
problems and singing math songs in the café (how very Dr. Lodge McCammon
of them). The robotics class programmed robots to be sound activated so
as students approached the station and spoke to the teacher they would
be followed by robotics until they figured out they needed to be quiet
to stop the stalking robots. The science teachers had a wax museum of
great people in the scientific community. Students were frozen in their
station and then came alive when a bell rang. They gave a little bit of
information about their lives and their contributions to society. Our
scavenger hunt students had to answer questions from each one of the
scripted dialogs. We had Florence Nightingale, Madam Curie, Sir Isaac
Newton, Jacques Cousteau and so many more in the house. We ended the
night with a selection played by our jazz ensemble. The store was packed
with students and parents and everyone enjoyed the STEM themed
activities.
